The Male Sexual Arousal Cycle

If you already read the article about the “Female Sexual Arousal Cycle” you may recognize that the male sexual arousal cycle is very similar. There are some obvious differences, but generally speaking men and women experience similar sensations during sex.

Why it’s important to know this…

Both you and your female partner can experience a more heighten sexual experience if you as well as she understands more about your body. This will help your times in the bedroom seem more like “lovemaking” for her and it will also help you feel more confident in bed.

Thus, the mystery of a man (somewhat) is revealed below. The physiology of the male sexual arousal cycle is best explained in the following way:

1.  Stimulation/Arousal-This is the stage in which a man first gets sexually excited. His heart beats faster and blood flows into his penis. This is the beginning stage of an erection, and this is when his penis starts to “grow.”

2. Plateau-This of course is when a man’s penis is hard. This happens as the amount of blood that flows into his member has reached its limit. This is also the most intense stage of the sexual experience for a man right before he ejaculates. This is the point at which he begins to feel as if the tension is so great he will “burst.”

 3. Orgasm/ejaculation-A man feels pulsations and of course then shoots out semen. It is possible for a man to have more than one orgasm before he does ejaculate. This may take practice. The ejaculation process takes place when the pelvic and prostate muscles are so strong that the semen is forced out of the penis.

 4. Resolution (or recovery)-This of course is when the man’s penis returns to its pre-erect stage. He is flaccid again and probably will remain that way for maybe up to an hour. There are tips and tricks to get a man to recover quicker and you should explore those as a couple (or even solo I guess?).

However, do not be alarmed if your man (if you are a woman) does not even become erect for awhile-sometimes even for days. Don’t worry though because the desire will return before you know it!

Now that you and/or your partner are reading more about your bodies it’s time to go and have some fun. Just achieving a greater understanding about yourself and one another helps immensely.
